NAME: Robert Thomas Morphy
II
DOB: 7/14/72
BIO: Born and raised in upstate New York,
Robert T. Morphy was fascinated by cryptozoological phenomenon
from an early age. The genesis of this life-long passion
came in the form of an episode of the Alan Landsburg produced
"In Search Of..." which dealt with the Louisiana
cryptid known as the Honey Island Swamp Monster.
Morphy is the primary researcher, author and artist for
American Monsters, and has dedicated the better portion
of his adult life to the pursuit of unknown animals. In
the early 1990's, Morphy conducted a wine fueled odyssey
throughout England, Austria, Switzerland and Germany in
pursuit of evidence regarding various European cryptids.
In 2000 he traveled to South Africa in order to investigate
reports of the notorious man-eater known as the Mamlambo.
During this trip, Morphy also collected information regarding
the legendary Howick Falls cryptids, known as the Inkanyamba.
Before returning home from this two month sojourn, Morphy
made pilgrimages to both the Chalumna River (where the
first modern Coelacanth was caught), and Margate beach,
were he attempted to find the site where the now famous
Trunko carcass washed ashore.
Most recently Morphy has directed the first in what is
planned to be a series of cryptozoological documentaries
covering some of the more famous (as well as obscure)
cryptids in the continental United States. The first of
the series will detail the animal which originally intrigued
Morphy so many years ago... the Honey Island Swamp Monster.
Having worked as a freelance journalist, editor and graphic
artist, Morphy has also written numerous critical essays
and screenplays, including a co-writing credit on the
soon to be produced Coen Brothers script "The Godmother."
Morphy has also served as a designer and consultant on
several motion pictures including "Snuff" and
"Blowin'
Smoke".
