OFFICIALS CONFIRM EXISTENCE OF SIBERIAN YETI!

Orange News has reported that officials in Siberia claim to have found “indisputable proof” of the existence of the notorious Yeti.

Local government officials in Kemerovo region said footprints and possibly even hair samples belonging to the yeti — or abominable snowman or ALMAS as it is more commonly known in the region — had been found on a research trip. The expedition was organized after Kemerovo’s governor invited researchers from the US, Canada, and other countries to share their research and stories of encounters with the creature at a conference. According to an unnamed Kemerovo administrator:

“During the expedition to the Azasskaya cave, conference participants gathered indisputable proof that the Shoria mountains are inhabited by the Snow Man. They found his footprints, his supposed bed, and various markers with which the yeti marks his territory,” the statement said. The ‘evidence’ will be analyzed in a special laboratory, it continued.

Kemerovo region’s Shoria is a sparsely populated territory in Western Siberia that has historically been a territory of coal and metal mining, and is known for its HAIRY HOMINID sightings.

“Indisputaputable” must mean something different in Russia than it does anywhere, because the evidence sounds pretty darned disputable. From the accounts of what happened I’ve read from people who were there it sounds likely what the expedition found was staged for their benefit. In particular the footprints found in the “Yeti lair” were all from right feet, no left feet. Also, the guides seems to know exactly where to go to find “Yeti marks,” though they claimed to be finding them for the first time.

Sadly, it seems as if you may be on the right path, Scopi. This looks less like “good science” and more like “crypto-tourism.”
